Bible Memory Challenge

Join us in a challenge to memorize 52 verses over the next year! It’s a great way to invest in your spiritual health as you focus on one verse each week. Below you can find links to print bookmarks with the verses on them as well as coloring scenes specially designed with 52 sections to help you track your progress. You can post these pages somewhere in your home and color in one section every time you learn a verse. It’s a great way to track your progress, to provide a little accountability among family members, and even to serve as a conversation starter with visitors to your home. There are two options for the challenge. If you are just getting started memorizing Scripture, try the Verse You Should Know challenge to learn verses that give you a solid foundation in your faith. If you are looking for something beyond the basics, try Growing in the Knowledge of God — 52 verses that describe what our great God is like.

Memorizing God’s Word, the Bible, is not only an encouragement along life’s road, but is also a way we can grow in our knowledge of God, which we are commanded to do (2 Peter 3:18), and guard our hearts from sin (Psalm 119:11).

Tips for Bible memory:

  • Read the verse five times a day.
  • Read the verse out loud.
  • Write out the verse by hand and put it where you will see it often, or carry it with you and pull it out and read it when you have a moment.
  • Place a card/post-it-note with the verse on the refrigerator and don’t open the refrigerator door till you read it.
  • Place a card/post-it-note with the verse on it by the kitchen sink or on the bathroom mirror and go over it as you wash dishes or brush your teeth, etc..
  • Sing the verse.
  • Teach the verse to others.
  • Write the verse out and cut apart the words, then challenge yourself to put the verse in order. You could also have someone put it in order, but leave some blanks and have you tell them what words go in that blank.
  • Write out the first letter of each word in the verse and try to say it with just those letters as prompts.
